Profile: Omar’s research interests focus on development economics with a focus on poverty alleviation at the microeconomic level. In particular, this involves the specification, estimation and interpretation of models of individual, firm/farm and market behaviour. Prior to joining CERP, Omar was part of the research team that conducted the Independent Organisational Evaluation of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), which was led by Dr. Salman Shah (The report can be found at www.moip.gov.pk). He also worked as Research Associate in the Economics Department at LUMS with Dr. Abid Aman Burki. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at St. Loius University.
