Lahore, Friday 18, 2021 – The Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Urban Unit to facilitate them in evidence-based decision making by generating superior insights through data analytics. Maroof Ali Syed, CERP’s President and Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Omar Masud, CEO of the Urban Unit, signed the MoU at the Urban Unit’s head office in Lahore.
The collaboration between CERP and the Urban Unit will generate superior insights through data analytics, resulting in more informed and evidence-based government decision making. Additionally, CERP will also enhance the Urban Unit’s capacity in data collection, evidence generation, and measurement and evaluation activities.
As part of the effort to leverage institutional capacity, CERP and The Urban Unit will work together to pursue local and international opportunities to exhibit their work. Both organisations will also undertake joint research projects that utilise data sets (available with both organisations), knowledge and data analysis to support research, policy recommendations and decision-making.
The Urban Unit is a fully owned company of the Government of Punjab. Its mandate is to give policy advice and services to public and private sector organisations in the areas that include inter alia Housing and Urban Planning, Spatial Planning, Urban Transport, Solid Waste Management, Water and Sanitation, Urban Economic and Municipal Finance, Institutional Development, Capacity Building and Service Delivery Improvement using its highly reliable GIS-based analytics.
