CERP, in collaboration with the Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy & Finance (JRCPPF) at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs launched a 2-day training on “Navigating the Energy Transition for a Sustainable Future in Pakistan”.
On the first day, participants explored global energy trends and discussed the energy crisis in Pakistan, its impact on stakeholders, and the need for a fundamental transformation of the energy system. President and CEO, CERP, Maroof A. Syed, opened the training with a key focus on the critical need for a fundamental transformation of the Energy system. Expert speakers, including, Chris Greig, Senior Research Scientist at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment and Dr Ayesha Ali, Assistant Professor, Lahore University of Management Sciences shared valuable insights on energy systems, market dynamics, and policy lessons learned. Faraz Hayat highlighted key research projects on energy market subsidies.
On the second day, participants delved into the topic of energy and climate change through open discussion forum, focusing on net-zero emissions and the future of renewable energy in Pakistan. The importance of financing and the role of institutions like Asian Development Bank (ADB) in driving energy transition were also emphasised by guest speaker Pradeep Tharakan, Director, Energy Transition at ADB.
Overall, the training aimed to equip participants with knowledge and strategies for achieving a sustainable energy future in Pakistan.
