Ali completed his Master of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2014, where he concentrated in Applied Economics. For his master’s thesis, he utilized a median voter demand model to analyze the determinants of city-level capital spending in the United States. He is building on his interest in public finance by serving as the in-house quantitative researcher on the Property Tax Experiment. Ali has been associated with organizations such as the Brookings Institution, the World Bank, the Pakistan Policy Group and LEAD Pakistan. He is interested in applying econometric analysis to issues pertaining to public finance such as – inter alia – taxation, domestic and international debt, and subsidies.
