Since 2004, Dean Karlan has been teaching at Yale University. He has also taught at Princeton University. His primary research fields are Development Economics, Behavioural Economics, Political Economy and Field Experiments. He received his PhD from at the Department of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2002 and his MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business with the Highest Honors in 1997. He also received an MPP from the University of Chicago Harris Graduate School of Public Policy in 1997. In 2012 he was awarded the Public Service Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
